Five Guys I'd Like to Party With

With the New Years and Holiday Season closing in, I began brainstorming a list of guys who I would like to party with when the clock strikes midnight. This was not easy for me, as there are a ton of suitable candidates, yet I believe I have put together a group of 5 that would do me and any rational person proud. So here goes...

The Top 5 Guys I'd like to Party With:

1. Derek Jeter

No shocker here. Who better than the Captain and the King of Swag to have as a wing man for the night? Not only has DJ been the face of baseball for the last 17 years, but he is the true definition of a class act. If being the Captain and most beloved player of the New York Yankees weren't enough, it doesn't hurt that Jeter has a twinkle in his eyes that gets the females more "prepped" than a litter of golden retriever puppies. #NoGay

Let's take a look at some of his other statistics that put his 3000 hits to shame...

Adriana Lima
Minka Kelly
Jessica Alba
Mariah Carey
Vida Guerra
Jessica Biel
....and many, MANY more.

2. Dwyane Wade

Okay, so this one is a bit of a biased pick, as Dwyane Wade has been my favorite player in the NBA since he entered the league in 2003. With that said, there is still no denying that D-Wade would be an incredible addition to the crew. Not only is he a top 3 player in the NBA, but he is also a product of the great city of Chicago. Like Jeter, he is a class act and has an image that spreads far beyond his excellencies on the court. It is also worth mentioning that he currently seeing the ever so sexy Gabrielle Union, you may recognize her from her role in Bad Boys II. #MikeLowwwrey.. Oh right, I guess LeBron could come too. Not Bosh though... he creeps me out.

3. JayZ

Much like Jeter and D-Wade in their respective sports, JayZ is the King of Hip Hop. With a flow that spreads like butter, it's safe to say that JayZ can make anything sound cool. I'd honestly probably spend half the evening trying to get him to say words like, "Gfilte Fish" and "Charoset." #Jews! Would I prefer to wait until Beyonce is through with her pregnancy? Sure. But I'll take what's given to me. In short, Jay Z is the Boss.

4. Wild Card: The Dos Equis Man

No not the actor, but the actual character of "The Most Interesting Man in the World." I know this doesn't technically count as a real person, but it's my wild card pick so get off my @$$ and deal with it. The real Dos Equis man would have enough knowledge and experiences to share for 10 lifetimes... and probably even more. We're talking about the guy who taught Hugh Heffner how to pick up women-- how's that for a night of entertainment? Besides, who wouldn't want to chill with a guy who "once taught a German Shepard to bark... in Spanish"? And I definitely would like to see him bowl "over hand." Also, and, perhaps most importantly, I would love to learn his secret for how "he has never lost a sock." That's just not possible.

5. Tim Tebow

Designated Driver.

- Honorable Mention: Tom Brady
- Second Team: Diddy

All He Does Is Win.

Well, he did it again. And this time, it was against my beloved Bears. And I have to admit, looking at it from the other end, it really sucks when you’re team gets “Tebow'ed.”
After watching the game, I sat in silence and wrecked my brain about how Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos can continue to do what they do in the 4th Quarter. I began speaking with my friend, Michael, who is also a diehard Bears fan. Michael, being the outspoken Christian that he is, credited the win to G-d. He explained to me and in a wonderfully written post that G-d rewards those who give praise to him and Tim Tebow is the opitome of faith.
Now, being the critical minded individual that I am, I’m not sure I buy into the idea that the big guy upstairs is wearing a Tebow jersey. I do believe however that Tim Tebow’s faith has a lot to do with his success. I believe that Tim Tebow believes that G-d has a plan for him that is greater than football and that win or lose, G-d will still love him. I believe it is this belief, that frees Tim Tebow from worry or doubt and allows him to turn into the otherworldly “force of competitive nature” that he is in the 4th Quarter—that’ll do for all the belief stuff for now.
Let’s look at the stats.
In the first 3 quarters, Tebow was 3/16 with a QB rating of 13. With that said, he had  three drops from Eric Decker and three drops from Demaryius Thomas. Tack those on and we’re looking at 9/16, which is not nearly as bad.
Then he gets intercepted on an incredibly acrobatic move by Peanut Tillman, but did that shake him? No. If you watched that game, you’d see Tebow actually ran over to Tillman and gave him props as the two laughed about it. In response to the pic, Tebow comes right back at Peanut the next drive and delivers a perfectly thrown toss to Demaryius Thomas that would have undeniably been a TD had he not dropped it.
4th Quarter.
With just under five minutes to go, the Broncos got the ball back and the clock finally struck Tebow Time. T-squared goes 7/7 on the drive, topping it off with a TD pass to Demaryius Thomas who was finally able to chip some of the cement off of his hands.
Even after the Broncos failed to get the onside kick back, I knew that unfortunately, it was far from over.
The Broncos D comes up with a stop, Marion Barber runs out of bounds and before you know it, Tebow was back on the field leading the Donkeys down to set up a 59 yard field goal that may as well have been, and, probably was, blessed by G-d.

I knew it was over the second we went into OT.

It didn't matter that the Bears had won the toss. It didn't matter that Robbie Gould had just set a franchise record for the longest kick in Bears history. And it didn't matter that Caleb Hanie had finally put together a nice little drive to get us in field goal range, because it was/has been made clear over the last six weeks that there is some greater power working through Tebow and this Broncos team that simply will not allow them to lose. Call it will, call it faith, call it whatever the heck you want, all I know is, in the words of Skip Bayless, "All He Does Is Win."

Final Fraze
The thing that makes me sick about all of this is that I found myself, to the slightest extent, pulling for him to do it. Even as a diehard Bears fan, I wanted to see if he could keep this magic going. And when he did, I wasn't even mad. Did I want my Bears to lose? Absolutely not. Do  I think this game would have had a different outcome had Cutty and Forte been active? Undeniably. But there is just something about this kid that makes you say, "Okay Tim, let's see what you got" and week after week, he continues to make even great defenses like the Chicago Bears eat their own words. On his last 3 drives, Tebow went 13-17 with 130 Pass, yes pass, yards and and helped the Broncos put 13 points on the board. He is always humble and refuses to accept "Tebow Time," and, as seen in his post game interview, merely refers to it as "Broncos Time." #TeamFirst. With a game against Tom Brady and the New England Patriots next week, it will be interesting to see if  he can continue pulling the rabbit out of his hat, but, at this point, who are we to say he can't? #BallerStatus

"No Hate" (On My Block Remix)

Check out the first verse of my track, No Hate. It is a remix of Scarface's On My Block that will be featured on my first mix-tape entitled, of course-- Opening Fraze. #WhatElse? As for the rest of the track, it is still a work in progress and I don't want to spoil anything, but I'm hoping to attach a couple other names on it with me.

With the classic Scarface beat, No Hate focuses on all the love I have for the great city of Chicago, while at the same time bringing to focus many of the corruptions that we are faced with today.

Give it a look and always enjoy any and all feedback. Hope you like it and stay tuned! #MuchLove

No Hate (On My Block Remix)
Born and raised in the Chi,
Where we always lookin fly,
And our dreams are as big as the scrapers in the sky.
Not everybody makes it,
But everybody try,
And when I see them haters hatin’ man it makes me wanna cry.
I ask G-d why,
 Why Lord do we hate?
And discriminate—on those who are great?
It makes me irate,
When we fuckin’ with there fate,
We should open up our arms,
Lead’m through that Golden Gate.
But not the bridge man,
I’m from the land of the Fridge man,
Lincoln, Pippen, Jordan—flyin’ high,
Drive-bys, Wise-guys,
And there ain’t no denies that we are the king of pies—
I’m talkin’ deep dish—if ya wish,
We’ll serve it up on a platter,
While we climbin’ to the top on our Chi-Town latter.
Kids slangin’ on the streets and nothin’ makes me sadder-- It's crazy mad, like the hatter.
But don’t shake ya head, shed a tear or send pity,
We all raised tough in the real Gothem City.
This eruption of corruption is leading us from grace,
Politicians runnin’ shit like Harvey-2-Face,
Ain’t got no—dark knight, black, white, straight or gay,
Cuz when the winter comes,
Man, we’ll all be livin’ gray.
Rain, sleet or snow, man, we always come to play,
That’s why I love my fuckin’ block,
And I’m thankful for each day—hit it.

Champion Swag

Well our friends over at Champion USA have done it again. After hooking up the #KUlax team with a generous supply of sweats, shorts, dry-fits, pinnies and compressions for the season last spring, I didn't think they could possibly outdo themselves this year. Well, in short, they did.

When we entered the gym today, our team was blessed with a box filled with some of the sickest pinnies I have seen to date. Now you have to understand that among the lacrosse community,  a good pinny is like showing up to the party with a perfect-10. It's the kind of thing that makes you proud to rep and excited to gloat to your friends and former teammates about. For this reason, I would like to send my grateful appreciation to the fine people over at Champion USA for providing me and my teammates with our dime-piece for the spring-- not counting our team managers, of course. #dope

Patience is a Virtue

Just wanted to send out an apology for the lack of posts lately. This year, I've been working hard to expand my talents from the video world, to the literary, and now, to the music industry as well. Over the last few months, I have quietly begun writing and recording my own music with the goal to put out a mix-tape by the end of the Fall Semester.

As I am nearing my deadline, I ask that you bare with me for the next few weeks as I buckle down and try to put a final product out there that I can be proud of. Maybe I'll even release a track or two before then...? Stay tuned. #PatienceIsAVirtue

"I'm Just A Jock Who Likes to Shower With Little Boys."

...WHAT?!

First I would like to extend my apologies for my absence over the last week or so, as I have been battling a cold and am working hard to release some new material after Thanksgiving break. But, in light of the Jerry SanDeutschsky scandal at Pen15 State, I just had to chime back in.

Before I rip this guy a new one, let's look at a timeline of events during Sandusky's tenor at PSU:

1969: Sandusky is hired at Penn State

1977: Sandusky founds The Second Mile Charity foundation for boys-- think he had an alterior motive?

1980's: Helped PSU win a couple titles-- blah, blah no one cares

1994-98: Three cases of Sandusky sexually assaulting 8-10 year old boys are reported

1999: Sandusky retires

Here's where I'll stop the timeline for a second. By 1999, Sandusky had retired as a coach from Penn State, yet the staff and campus police still let him maintain an active role with the team. One year later (in 2000), a janitor apparently spotted Sandusky going down on a 10-11 year old kid in the showers, but for whatever the reason may be, he is still hanging around after that.

The icing on the cake comes in 2002, when Ginger Assistant -- check that, Graduate Assistant --  Mike McQueary walked in on Sandusky performing anal sex on a young boy. Call me nuts, but I just can't help but think that one's moral values would kick in at this time, and, at the very least, call out, "Hey, Jerr, buddy, maybeeee you shouldn't be doing that." Rather than stepping in, McQueary went and told his dad-- What are you, a 5-year-old?

Finally the news gets brought to Joe Pa, who brings the incident to the Athletic Director and so on.

But this was 9 years ago now. How in the world did the Penn State allow this monster to continue to be a presence at practice and around the campus? Not only that, in 2007,  Sandusky began to bring around one of the apparent victims, even though he had been banned from bringing children on campus-- yeah, they really stuck it to him...

Sandusky was arrested on November 5, and spoke out for the first time yesterday evening in an interview with Sports Reporter, Bob Costas. In the interview, Sandusky denied all allegations of sexual actions with young boys as his attorney explained that he is "just your typical, fun-spirited jock," -- oh yeah sure, just your classic case of a 60-year-old jock who likes to shower with young boys-- #VintageSandusky. In defense of the 40 criminal accounts against him, Sandusky replied,

"I have horsed around with kids. I -- I have showered after workouts. I have hugged them and I have touched their leg. Without intent of sexual contact..."
good luck, bro.

Final Fraze
Other than the overall well-being of the victims, the one thing about this Penn State scandal that just really picks at me is that no one took the initiative to step in directly and handle the situation. Now, I can understand that this must have been an extremely delicate situation for Joe Pa and the staff to handle, as Sandusky was one of their loyal associates for years. And I get that it would be difficult to turn in a trusted friend for allegations that would undeniably ruin his life. With that said, if you witness or have knowledge of a 60-year-old man that has been sexually assaulting young boys, it is your moral duty to step in and do something about it. It is an absolute shame that a beloved and well-respected coach like Joe Paterno had to be cut loose on what was likely to be the final season of his 44-year tenor at Penn State; however, in this situation, merely telling your superior is not enough.
